About the Litter Sweep
The Chamber began an initiative in 2022 to unite members of the community in tackling the issue of litter in Burke County through its Annual Litter Sweep. This event typically takes place in the spring of each year. Registration is free and everyone is invited to participate!
The Litter Sweep is a great opportunity for families, boy and girl clubs, church groups and more to help improve the cleanliness of the community! It is truly amazing what we can accomplish when we work together.
Get Involved!
The Burke County Chamber of Commerce Litter Sweep will encourage participants to spend more time outside and make a positive impact on the community. The Chamber is excited to be able to provide cash prizes to teams who collect the most litter! If you are interested in participating, please contact the Chamber to sign up and set a time to pick up vests and other supplies.
Each participant will be given an information sheet that contains details about safety guidelines, litter drop-off sites, competition rules, and more. The week of the Litter Sweep, teams go out and pick up litter throughout Burke County. Afterwards, teams will deliver their bags to one of the designated drop-off sites. All teams will need to return their team sheet and supplies to the Chamber to qualify for the competition prizes.

Protecting Our Community
The presence of litter throughout a community can impact quality of life, safety, and has environmental consequences. Litter can be moved into water sources and onto roads by varying means. Weather conditions, animals, traffic, and many other factors contribute to litter being dispersed throughout the community as well.
The Burke County Chamber of Commerce cares about this community! This Litter Sweep is an example of how we are striving to serve Burke County. For more information on this event, email Jenna at jcole@burkecounty.org or call (828) 437-3021.
